Policies

In order to enhance communication and promote understanding regarding this office's financial policies, please read through the following information.

Insurance: We are happy to bill both primary and secondary insurances as a courtesy for our patients. It must be understood that each patient is ultimately responsible for the cost of services rendered. We will do our best to estimate accurate insurance coverage and patient portions due; however, if the insurance company does not pay the full amount anticipated, the patient is responsible for the difference. Payment would be expected within 30 days of receiving a statement.

Patient Payment: The patient portion due for services rendered is expected at the time of service unless previous arrangements have been made with the office manager. We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards.

Financing: We have financing options available through CareCredit. If you have an interest in this option, please consult with the office manager prior to the date of scheduled treatment.

No Shows/Missed Appointments: We request notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment at least 48 hours in advance. If appropriate notice is not given, a charge of $25 may be assessed to the patient's account. For appointments scheduled for longer than 1 hour, an additional $25 will be charged for each hour missed, i.e. $50 for a 2 hour appointment, $75 for a 3 hour appointment.

Refunds for Unfinished Treatment: If a patient decides to discontinue treatment after it has been started, a full refund will not be given. Individual circumstances may be discussed with the office manager and/or dentist.

Credits on an Account: If an insurance company pays more than anticipated creating a credit for the patient, we are happy to either refund the patient or leave the credit on the account to be applied toward future treatment.

Dental benefits are based upon a contract made between an employer and an insurance company. While the staff at Precision Dental can answer many of the questions you might have concerning your insurance, it is to your benefit to contact your employer and/or insurance company directly. They can provide the most up to date information available.

Dental benefits are not medical benefits. Unlike medical insurance, dental insurance is meant to assist you in receiving dental care. Many times, dental benefit plans do not pay for completion of care.

PPO vs. Indemnity Insurance Plans: We currently accept most PPO indemnity insurance plans. This means Precision Dental works with thousands of companies to ensure that you get the best dental benefits and care.

PPO plans allow you to choose to be seen by any dentist who participates with your insurance company. The charges are the same no matter which dentist you choose to see for services. This is because each dentist participating with a particular company has agreed to accept a specific fee for treatment. While it appears that a guaranteed quote would be simple to accomplish for participants of a PPO, this is often not the case due to changes in contracted fees. Precision Dental works with the most up to date information in processing your claims, however this is only an estimate. Actual fees, insurance coverage, and patient portion can vary. In the event that your insurance carrier pays less than the estimate amount, you are responsible for the unpaid balance.

Indemnity plans allow you to be seen by any dentist. Your insurance company covers a percentage of the costs billed by your chosen dentist. Out of pocket expenses vary depending on the practice fee schedule.

Billing: For your convenience, Precision Dental bills your insurance company. In the event the insurance company does no pay within 90 days, Precision Dental reserves the right to request payment for service from you. While this outcome is unlikely, should it happen, it is your responsibility to collect these funds from your insurance company.

Payment: Precision Dental requires payment in full for your portion at the time of service. We accept all major credit cards and cash. Checks are also accepted, pending approval from our verification system. Because of this process, post-dated checks cannot be accepted. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Financial Options: Precision Dental works with CareCredit which provides six to twelve months "same as cash" plans as well as other interest bearing options to meet your treatment plan needs. All plans are based on approval, simply ask a staff member for an application.
